The Okuapemman Association of USA and Canada (OKUSACA), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization is pleased to announce its annual Odwira/Ohum Festival and Cultural display to be hosted in New Jersey during the U.S. Labor Day weekend, from Friday, September 1 to Monday, September 4, 2023.
This will be the 38th Anniversary of the founding of the Association, along with the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the Okuapemman Association of New Jersey. The commemorate these anniversaries, the Odwira /Ohum Festival will be celebrated at the Holiday Inn Newark Hotel, 160 Frontage Rd., Newark, NJ 07114, with the OKUSACA New Jersey Chapter as hosts.
The OKUSACA organization is dedicated to fostering close social, cultural and economic inter-relationships between its members (mainly people of Akuapem and Asuogya descent, but also Ghanaians from other parts of the country who have chosen to join our organization), and the host communities in which we live here in North America. Our other major focus is to help improve the quality of lives of the people living in the Akuapem and Asuogyaman areas, and Ghana in general. We do this by organizing activities and holding events that are aimed at raising funds and soliciting donations in-kind, which we then use to initiate and support programs in Ghana that are geared towards the implementation of this endeavor.
The theme for this year’s special celebration is “LIVING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE IN THE DIASPORA”, chosen appropriately to screen, teach, and to facilitate a healthy lifestyle among Ghanaians and the population at large.
Many dignitaries are expected to grace the occasion, including Ambassador Harold Agyeman, Ghana's Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
A special fund-raiser will be held with the goal of raising funds to provide health screening among Akuapem and Asuogya residents in Ghana.
We look forward to having you there. Thank you.

National Coordinating Secretary
